ABOUT THE FESTIVAL AND EVENT PARTNERS

The Town of Sahuarita and the Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance have come together to collaborate on a series of arts and cultural experiences and integrations, all to celebrate the Town of Sahuarita's 25th Anniversary. From public art installations, chalk art festivals to culinary and music celebrations, the partnership will bring the arts center stage throughout Sahuarita. ARTIST APPLICATION

Join in on the Chalk Art Festival fun!

Community members and emerging artists can reserve dedicated painting sites to participate at the festival. The application below allows you to reserve a space in advance to work on a unique 3' x 3' dedicated square mural piece. Chalk will be provided for you at the event and you can begin painting as early as 9 AM. At 2:30 PM, awards will be handed out by a panel of judges for the following categories:

$100 - Best Town of Sahuarita Inspired Mural
$100 - Best Family or Group Created Mural
$100 - Judges Choice Emerging Artist

Additionally, attendees can create their own signature murals under the guidance of two onsite teaching artists and facilitators (no pre-registration required). The community participation mural will be created by public participants, students and event attendees in a progressive, eclectic mural growing to a super-sized street piece. The Sahuarita Chalk Art Festival Kidzone is a space where imaginations soar and children can participate in their own original pieces of chalk art.

Participants create original 1 foot by 1 foot murals on untreated cement in pedestrian walkways of Sahuarita Lake Park. SATURDAY NOVEMBER 2 10am-3pm
All painting or chalk materials will be provided by Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance

Artwork for the Festival must be appropriate for public viewing. No words or symbols intended as religious or offensive will be permitted. Artists are not permitted to endorse, dedicate or name any other outside organizations in their mural.. Artists can begin their mural any time 9 AM onwards at the designated site. Judging will take place between 2 PM and 2:30 PM. All chalk will be provided by Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance Emerging Artists and Groups will be notified of their selection in the 2019 Sahuarita Chalk Art Festival no later than October 18, 2019 I understand that all photography taken onsite at the event will be used in SAACA and/or Town of Sahuarita promotional materials Check All
