ABOUT US: The Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance (SAACA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the creation, preservation and advancement of the Arts.

SAACA strengthens the bonds between people, place and purpose through collaborative, arts-driven experiences.

On December 3, 2019, SAACA opened a first of its kind 14,000 square foot Maker and Arts Space at Tucson Mall. This space has dedicated learning spaces for Culinary Arts Classes and Instruction, Music and Film Production Studios, Arts and Crafts Studio, Robotics and Engineering Lab, performance spaces and coworking for creatives.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Marketing & Graphic Design Manager is a passionate individual who believes in the power of the arts and the critical role they play in community development.  The position leads efforts in dynamic storytelling, creative writing, problem solving, relationship development, creative design direction, content development, and a special eye for brand execution and development.  

SAACA is a fast-paced organization who put out daily content on web, email outreach, social, print, radio, television, digital and press engagement platforms.  We are looking for a marketing manager who can handle a large volume of content, while multitasking several projects at once. 


PRIORITIZED RESPONSIBILITIES


RESPONSIBILITY #1 (20%)
Events, Programs, Communications and Public Affairs

• Coordinate with appropriate staff and provide oversight on all public relations activities, including press conferences, press kit mailings, press release mailings and all media follow up with story pitches.

• Manage media projects, including press releases and announcements, generate story line opportunities utilizing new media and traditional outlets.

• Plan and manage external communication efforts, including but not limited to publicity for events, program launches, breaking news, etc.

• Drive brand-specific public relations activity and participate when asked to be spokesperson.

• Develop SAACA contact databases and expand network reach. 

• Monitor and catalog all media coverage of SAACA activities across print, broadcast, and social media outlets.

• Coordinate with all staff to ensure consistency in all organizational communications.

RESPONSIBILITY #2 (10%)
Brand Development & Design
• Design and produce video and digital media to create a cohesive image and message for all communication vehicles.  Work with the Executive Director on developing annual calendar of focus for all internal and external programming needs. 

• Under creative direction execute all branding campaigns, including design and printing. Ensure that all materials are developed and distributed according to a planned timeline.

RESPONSIBILITY #3 (60%)
Marketing & Content Development 

• Authoring weekly content for press releases, website, blog, social media, collateral materials, and interviewing creative storytelling for organization partners.  Pertains to both CATALYST and external programs.
• Work with Executive Director and other appropriate staff, to develop and implement an annual strategic marketing and communications plan for SAACA, CATALYST & Programs to span across all applicable marketing and communication channels (online and offline) in order to reach appropriate target audiences. Formulate and implement a process to evaluate the success of various strategies and provide recommendations and a plan for improvement.
• Work with the web and graphic designer to ensure that all deadlines for all communications, PR, collateral, web and print materials is met. 

• Maintain and coordinate implementation of the annual marketing & communications calendar.
• Develop annual trade and in-kind media contracts with local radio, television, print media, news and other communications and marketing outlets. 

• Work closely with contractors to design and produce printed and online communication material used in internal and external marketing-communications initiatives.

• Develop creative content (includes video and digital and interactive content).

• Develop marketing and/or fundraising initiatives for SAACA events, including Culinary Festivals, Live Music, Art Festivals, Community Cultural Events, and other seasonal events.
• Develop interactive elements for attendees at annual events and programs. 

Leading marketing efforts to develop and maintain a consistent brand identity throughout all printed and online marketing materials.
• Direct the team in the evolution of the brand and document all brand standards in the brand style guide.
• Develop, review and maintain relationships with print vendors and oversee the quality of all of the materials produced.
• Maintain and evolve the website and external media accounts. Knowledge of HTML/CSS is helpful but not required. Develop web, social and email based fundraising campaigns.

RESPONSIBILITY #4 (10%)
Undercover Arts Magazine

• Oversee project management fundamentals of all aspects of the Undercover Arts Magazine.  
• Work with the Executive Director to develop annual article themes, and interviews accordingly.  Manage all aspects of the written magazine.  
• Work with the Web & Graphic Designer to establish a layout for the magazine, content structure, and advertiser layouts.
• Manage all renewals of advertisements from previous year, and design campaigns to outreach for new opportunities.
• Manage in partnership with the Web and Graphic Designer, all aspects of the listing’s element of the magazine.  
• Develop online registration forms, thank you letters and follow up on inquiries for advertisement.  

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field and 1-2 years experience in a marketing position and/or communications position. Ability to work in a fast paced environment with multifaceted demands. Experience with preparation of press releases, internet, website and social media. Proven ability to successfully handle multiple projects and meet critical deadlines. Results-orientated and a passion for creativity. Flexibility to attend occasional evening and/or weekend meetings and/or events. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and proficiency with online design programs, a plus or ability to learn on the fly.

LEVEL OF DECISION-MAKING

Within the bounds of SAACA’s mission, values and policies, brand and sound professional practices, the Marketing & Graphic Design Manager is required to manage his/her activities to deliver defined results.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

SAACA operates under a collaborative, matrix management model. The Marketing & Graphic Design Manager is supervised and evaluated by the Executive Director, Director of Programs, and Director of Operations. Each SAACA team member establishes work priorities and ensures that their individual activities are continuing within the context of an established schedule and budget.

CHALLENGES OF THE POSITION

The challenge to the individual holding the Marketing & Graphic Design Manager is functioning in an environment characterized by growth and transition. On an ongoing basis, the main challenge to the position is an ability to thrive in an environment that requires significant self-initiative, anticipate project needs, manage multiple projects at once, and collaborate among many team members both internal and external to SAACA.
